How do we get our government to represent the people again!?

our government is not listening to the people. Why does the government seem to be taking care of itself rather than the people. Senators and Representatives get lobbyist to cater to there needs with all sorts of unknown bribes in return for favorable legislation. They vote on there own pay raises. Has congress or the house of representatives ever taken a pay cut in hard times like most americans. Any oval office branch taken such a cut either. Why do the perks for government officials keep going when working cl americans are struggleing to survive. Government has become a voice for large corporation and wealthy business owners. At fancy dinner parties how many common folks are invited. If a government ceases to represent the people, what over time will happen to that governing body. Have our leaders learned nothing from the founding fathers. Taxation without representation was the reason the colonies fought the english over.
