Animal slaughtering ?

OK I grew up on a farm. Chickens, pigs, and cows were all sources of food for us. That is what we raised them for. We had many family pets dogs, cats, rabbits, ferrets etc. never once did anyone in my family harm a pet. I may not be popular for this but I think that there is a difference between livestock that is used for food and pets. The death of the livestock was very quick and the least cruel possible. I can't wrap my head around killing a dog with an ax or trying to kill a dog with a car.
