How can I make him wait for a month after our wedding?

Ours is one of the Indian weddings- arranged. I have a feeling that i need time to get to know him. All we need is a life-long friendship/companionship in our marital life. i want to get emotionally involved before getting into the plane of physical arousal. how can i make him understand? though he is really really patient still our third day of our wedding, the mere peer pressure makes him open the topic. Is it normal?
